Understanding Billable TOWING Calls
In the Towing category, a billable call is defined as a vehicle owner or authorized driver actively seeking professional towing or roadside assistance due to a breakdown, accident, or immobility. The focus is on assisting the motorist with their own vehicle.
We classify requests as non-billable if they involve non-consensual towing or heavy-duty commercial equipment. Common non-billable examples include Repossessions, Private Property Impounds (callers wanting to remove a car they don’t own from their property), and callers searching for a vehicle that has already been impounded. Additionally, we do not charge for requests related to 18-wheelers, RVs, long-haul transport, tire chain installation, or vehicle lockouts.
Please note that this list is provided for reference only and is not exhaustive. Criteria may change as our services evolve.
Billable Towing Services
We currently consider the following services to be valid, billable calls for the Towing category:
Towing Services
Standard transport services for immobilized vehicles.
- General Towing: Flatbed towing and standard wrecker service.
- Motorcycles: Towing for motorcycles.
- Recovery: Winching services (pulling vehicles out of mud, ditches, or snow).
- Impound Retrieval: Requests from vehicle owners needing their car towed out of an impound lot (distinct from people looking for a lost car).
- Restricted Areas: Tows originating from toll roads, turnpikes, or difficult access locations (provided the tower can legally serve them).
Roadside Assistance
Services designed to get the vehicle moving again without a tow.
- Battery Services: Jumpstarts (Car and Motorcycle) and battery changes.
- Tire Services: Putting on a spare tire. If the caller has no spare, the call is still billable (typically converting to a tow).
- Fuel Delivery: Gas service for stranded motorists.
Contracts & Third Parties
- Insurance Dispatches: Calls from insurance companies acting on behalf of a claimant who is ready to pay or authorize service.
- Commercial Contracts: Calls from commercial site owners looking to set up towing contracts.
Service Area
- Location: Trips are considered billable as long as at least one end of the trip (pickup or drop-off) falls within your designated service area.
